| Volunteer Services
Volunteers are the life blood of the American Red Cross. This is not just some slogan or catch phrase. Volunteers lead each and every Chapter in the United States. Volunteers teach classes, coordinate blood mobiles, counsel disaster victims, respond to emergencies such as tornadoes, hurricanes, floods, fires and terrorist attacks. The American Red Cross could not do what we do without our volunteers. To add perspective, following the September Terrorist attacks, the American Red Cross deployed over 55,000 volunteers and career staff to address the needs of the families, victims, and relief workers in New York, Washington DC and Pennsylvania.
