Sixteenth Annual Festival of Trees

November 16th thru November 27th

All Proceeds help Wayne County Disaster Victims

The Sixteenth Annual Festival of Trees event kicked off the holiday season when the displays open to the public on Friday night, November 16th. Honorary Chairpersons Jennie & Paul Reusser, hosted the invited guests, patrons, sponsors, and decorators who attended a sneak preview at the Gala Opening Party on November 15th. The Gala Opening was sponsored by Ohio Legacy Bank.  Festival Chairperson, Chris White,  welcomed nearly 200 guests and they viewed the 100 plus displays and auction items on display at the Wayne County Historical Society.

The Festival of Trees is the main fund raising event for the American Red Cross Wayne County Chapter's Disaster Services program. The proceeds from this event stay local - helping families recover from disasters and emergencies. The funds are used for direct service client needs.

This past year, the American Red Cross helped 83 families - 221 individuals, 79 of whom were children with these funds. Disaster can happen anytime, anywhere - with little or no warning. This is all too true to the families in West Salem and Wooster who survived tornadoes the past two years and to the many seniors who spent several days in Red Cross shelters during our Christmas Ice Storm..

The Festival of Trees is made up of a fantastic group of volunteers who begin their efforts in early spring, for the November event. Under the guidance of Chris White, Festival Chairperson, the Committee contacts donors and patrons, decorators, corporations, entertainers, and volunteers to help make this event possible. The Festival of Trees raised nearly $40,000 this year for local Disaster Relief! This was made possible due to these dedicated Festival Volunteers:

The Festival of Trees Committee: Catherine Baker, Rose Johnson, Nancy & Steve Crisafulli, Donna Westfall, Prudy Pasquariello,  Jeff Baker, Chris & Fred White, Karen Brenner, Mary Oxenrider, Joan Goodright, Tricia Pycraft, Angela Withrow, Brenda Greegor, Kathy Watson, Julie Ecker, Jennifer Jolliff, Emily Gareis, Patricia Weigman, Vicki Voltz, Paul Stafford, Peter Maigieri, Connie Stutzman, Ken Walkerly, Ohio Legacy Bank, TJ's Restaurant, Wayne Savings Community Bank, Wooster Women's Civic Club, the Wooster Exchange Club, and Quota International.

Special thanks goes out to the Wayne County Historical Society, and to Greenbriar Conference and Party Centre - hosts to this year's event.

A very special thank you goes out to Dave Acker and his Auction Team, and to Wooster Appliance Center, Mike & Judy Gerig, Wayne Savings Community Bank, Ohio Legacy Bank, Wooster High School FCCLA Class, Wooster Exchange Club, Pine Tree Barn, and to Ken Walkerly and his crew from the Reed Warehouse for delivering Christmas Trees, and to the hundred-plus volunteers who helped throughout the event!

Recap of the Festival of Trees 2007

The Festival opened on Friday night, November 16th at the Wayne County Historical Society Campus and concluded two weeks later on Tuesday, November 27th at Greenbriar Conference & Party Centre. Nearly 4,000 guests attended the two week event, which has always remained free to the public.

The Auction night had approximately 450 people attend. Dave Acker and his Staff kept everyone on their toes, raising much needed funds to help us help others. Mary Oxenrider & Joan Goodright, Food Chairmen and Quota Club International made sure all of the guests had plenty to eat!

Thank You!
