Professional Rescuer CPR/AED

This course is to teach those with a duty to act the skills needed to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies appropriately, including training on the use of an AED. Infant and Child CPR

This course teaches you how to use the EMS system, rescue breathing and chest compressions to revive infants (birth to 1 year) and children (1 year to 12 years old). Upon successful completion of the course, the students will receive an Infant and Child CPR certificate valid for 2 years.

 

 

 

CPR Challenge

This course is designed for individuals  who hold a CURRENT CPR card and have held certification for 3 consecutive years. THERE WILL BE NO TEACHING IN THIS CHALLENGE COURSE. A skills and written test will be administered. Scoring less than 80% will result in a non-passing grade. Enrollment in a full course will be required and a passing score achieved to receive certification.      Call the Chapter to set up an appointment

 

First Aid

This course teaches procedures for the immediate care of emergencies such as bleeding, shock, poisoning, and broken bones. Upon successful completion, students receive certification valid for 2 years.

(Day Care providers may take this course, along with Infant & Child CPR, to meet the 6 hour First Aid Requirement. When registering, please state that you are taking the course as a Day Care provider.)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

STANDARD FIRST AID

Adult CPR/Automated External Defibrillator/First Aid

This course will give individuals the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and provide basic care for persons 9 years and older for breathing, cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illness. Upon successful completion, the students will receive two certifications—an Adult CPR/AED certificate valid for one year and a Standard First Aid certificate valid for 2 years. * MUST Attend both sessions to receive certification.

 

 

Adult, Infant & Child CPR/AED, & First Aid

This course teaches people how to use the EMS system, infant, child and adult CPR, first aid techniques for bleeding, shock, injuries, and medical emergencies. This course may be used to meet the Ohio Day Care Licensing requirements for in-service training 5101:22-12-30. Upon successful completion, students will receive three certifications: Adult CPR/AED; Infant & Child CPR, both valid for two years; along with certification in First Aid, valid for two years. * Must attend all three dates to receive certification

Sports Safety Training

This course provides individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to provide a safe environment to athletes aged 9 years and above, while they are participating in sports and faced with an emergency. To help sustain life and minimize the consequences of injury or sudden illness until medical help arrives. This course meets the Ohio Department of Education requirements for Pupil Activity Supervisor Validation (per ORC 251-97). Upon successful completion, students will receive certification in Adult CPR (valid for two years) and a Sports Safety Training certificate (valid for two years).

First Aid and Preparedness (Adult)

This course is ideal if you want lifesaving skills, but don’t want or need to receive a certificate awarded by traditional Red Cross First Aid, CPR and AED training. This one-hour course shows you the key steps to handling conscious and unconscious choking, breathing emergencies, shock, bleeding, burns, allergic reactions, bites and stings.

First Aid and Preparedness (Youth) - aged 6-11 years

This course teaches the three action steps for emergency preparedness (get a kit, make a plan and be informed). It also teaches the participant on how to prevent, recognize and respond to emergencies that youth are mostly likely to encounter. This course instructs the student to recognize and respond to someone who is choking and how to control bleeding.

Pet First Aid (Dog First Aid)

This course teaches the immediate and temporary care given to an injured dog or cat, until it can be taken to a veterinarian for more definitive medical care. Learn care for choking, breathing problems and CPR. Upon successful completion, the student receives a Participation Certificate. *(Red Cross offers Cat First Aid classes upon request)

Basic Aid Training (BAT)

This course introduces children (aged 8-12 years) to safety information and first aid procedures for breathing difficulties, bleeding, poisoning, burns, shock, and other emergencies. Helps Home Schoolers meet first aid requirements. Upon successful completion, students receive a Basic Aid Training certificate. Call (330) 264-9383 For Class Information

Bloodborne Pathogens

This course prepares employees regarding safe workplace practices, to report and follow-up on employee exposures to infectious materials. This course meets the educational requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Administration—Bloodborne Pathogen Standard (Section 1910.1030). Upon successful completion, students receive a “Has Completed” certificate in Preventing Disease Transmission. Call (330) 264-9383 For Class Information

 

Recognition, Prevention and Management of Communicable Disease (6-Hour Course required for Childcare Personnel)

This course has been designed and approved to meet the requirements for the Ohio Department of Job & Family Services and the Ohio Department of Education for the communicable disease training in licensed childcare centers (Section 5101:2-12-27)

* Must complete both sessions to receive certificate.

 

Recognition, Prevention and Management of Communicable Disease (3-hour Course required for childcare personnel)

  * For individuals who have completed the 6-hour course

 

 

Registration Information

Class size is limited and registration is necessary. Classes are filled on a first come, first serve basis. Prepayment is necessary to reserve your registration. Mail-in registration (check or money order—please no cash) made payable to the American Red Cross Wayne County Chapter, 244 West South Street, Wooster, Ohio, 44691. Registration via-phone is acceptable with credit card payment (MasterCard or VISA). Walk-in registration: Monday thru Friday, 9:00 am to 3:30 pm.

 

 

 

 

 

Adult CPR/AED

This course teaches you how to recognize a breathing or cardiac emergency in an adult and when to call for EMS support. Learn about the role the Automated External Defibrillator AED, and how to safely use an AED on a victim of sudden cardiac arrest. This course meets the guidelines identified by OSHA. Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive an Adult CPE/AED certificate valid for two years.
