YOU CAN HELP THOSE AFFECTED BY DISASTERS THROUGHOUT THE UNITED STATES
The American Red Cross is a member agency of the Wayne / Holmes United Way and the Orrville Area United Way Agencies. Approximately 21% of our operating budget comes from these funding groups. It is important to support these campaigns, to help yourself and everyone in Wayne County. You never know how close you or your family could be to use a service supported by one of the United Way Agencies. Do you use day care? Do you know somebody in the Military? Do your kids take swim lessons? Are you trying to return to the job market? Have you ever performed first aid or CPR on someone? Have you ever been close to being homeless? Do you know someone who has had a heart attack? Has anyone you know ever needed blood? Do you know a Boy or Girl Scout? Do you belong to the "Y"? The Agencies the United Way supports touches each of our lives - every day. Where would we be without any of the agencies supported by the United Way? A small donation can go a long way, as all of the agencies value each and every dollar we receive. Help yourself and your neighbor - Support the United Way!
The Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross was founded on May 28, 1917 shortly following America's involvement in World War I. The Wayne County community began our Chapter in support of our troupes serving in Europe. Our current location at 244 West South Street in downtown Wooster has a long history of helping others throughout the years. Our Chapter is celebrating our 91st Anniversary this year. Stop in to say hello and become a member of our Red Cross family!
Please Help us Help those affected by Disaster. There are many ways people can help. Financial contributions are the best way to get the immediate assistance to those who need it most. We can target their needs which include food, clothing, shelter, and medicines. It also helps the local economy of the affected area by putting money back into the area. In-kind donations, while very much appreciated, pose problems in sorting, transporting and delivering to the area. Many churches are collecting items, which we suggest would be more appropriate to send to. They will get these items to various areas for distribution. Donating your time. We are training local people to respond nationally and for here in Wayne County, if needed. Remembering to donate blood on your regular schedule. Although a blood emergency may not have been declared, blood is always needed to save lives. Your continued support of the Red Cross will be important as we address the long term needs of those involved in disasters. YOU CAN HELP THOSE AFFECTED BY DISASTERS
