The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers and guided by it’s Congressional Charter and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Movement, will provide relief to victims of disasters and help people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. |
|
The American Red Cross Values |
|
Affirming our commitment to the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, we pledge ourselves to these values:
HUMANITARIANISM—We exist to serve others in need, independently and without discrimination, providing relief for victims of disasters and helping people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies.
STEWARDSHIP—We act responsibly, effectively, and efficiently with resources entrusted to us, always seeking to improve.
HELPING OTHERS—We are attentive and responsive to those we serve, always listening to their needs and looking for ways to serve through our existing or new initiatives.
RESPECT—We acknowledge, respect, and support the rights and diversity of each person in our organization and in the communities we serve.
VOLUNTARY SPIRIT—As a family of donors, volunteers, and staff we search for ways to provide hope to those we serve while demonstrating compassion, generosity, and appreciation.
CONTINUOUS LEARNING—We seek, collectively and individually, to identify, obtain, and maintain competencies and the awareness required for exceptional service.
INTEGRITY—We act with honesty, demonstrate courage and accountability under pressure and openly share ideas and information with each other. |

Be Red Cross Ready |
|
The Be Red Cross Ready initiative encourages three actions every organization, individual and family should take to better prepare themselves for an emergency or disaster.
Make a Plan. Encourage members of your community to design a Family Disaster Plan. The Family Disaster Plan focuses on both families and individuals.
Build a Kit. Encourages households to assemble a Disaster Supply Kit, which contains items that people may need if (1) confined to their homes for an extended period of time (e.g.after a disaster or winter storm) or (2) told to evacuate on short notice. First Aid kits can be purchased at the local Red Cross Chapter.
Be Informed. Encourage the public to give their time through volunteering.
For further information on the Be Red Cross Ready initiative, visit our National Website at: www.redrcoss.org.

Thank a Veteran Today! Remember our brave men and women serving in the Military, as well as their families. You can help our servicemen and women out daily, by supporting their families. And please remember, “Thank a Vet” for their service as well. Its through their sacrifice that we enjoy our liberties each day. |
